A developer is looking to build two warehouses on the former home of The Cartwright Group, the trailer manufacturer which went into administration in 2020.

Wilmslow-based Quorum bought the three-acre site on George Richards Way last year and has now submitted plans for two warehouses totalling 62,000 sq ft.

The site has now been cleared to make way for the development, and if the application is successful, work could start in late summer with a completion date of early 2023.

Knight Frank industrial and logistics partner Sam Royle said: “These two new units will provide best in class accommodation aimed at the increasingly active SME market.

“They will help meet increasing demand across the South Manchester market where there is a distinct lack of available modern stock and record low vacancy rates.

“Whilst already recognised as a primary industrial and office park location, the proposed new primary access point off George Richards Way will help to reposition this site and provide a fantastic trading location for future occupiers with improved accessibility and a high-profile business environment.”

One of Altrincham’s biggest employers at the time, The Cartwright Group appointed administrators in September 2020 with the loss of hundreds of jobs.
