Local Elections 2023 results: Clean sweep for Greens in Altrincham and Hale but Labour retain Council control

The Green Party enjoyed a clean sweep of councillors in Altrincham and Hale in the Local Elections.

Both wards saw three Green councillors elected, including local plumber Hannah Spencer, and meant that the party increased its presence on Trafford Council by two seats. Incumbent Conservative Daniel Chalkin lost his Hale seat.

Overall in the Altrincham wards, the Conservatives won six seats – mainly in Hale Barns and Bowdon – the Greens won six, the Liberal Democrats cleaned up in Timperley Central and Timperley North to take six, and Labour won two.

Across the Trafford borough as a whole, Labour retained control by increasing their number of councillors by one to 41.

Average turnout across the Altrincham wards was 44.1%.
