Coffee caravan Stutter & Twitch is to make a permanent home in Altrincham town centre after becoming a lockdown success story.
The coffee and music concept has been a familiar sight and sound for daily walkers in Stamford Square having opened during the first lockdown last year.
And now it is to be expanding into the former Cheese Peddlers and Gummy Worm unit close to the caravan’s parking spot.
The new permanent Stutter & Twitch will serve craft beer and a curated cocktail and wine menu, in addition to its artisan coffee and vinyl record offering.
It will also use the space as a mini bakery to create a range of Stutter & Twitch treats to sell from the caravan.
And the good news for lovers of the caravan – and the uplifting soundtrack that emanates from it – is that it will be staying put.
The expansion, which is scheduled for March or as soon as restrictions allow, is supported by Bruntwood Works and is part of a wider vision to reshape the Stamford Quarter in Altrincham town centre.
The Stamford Quarter was acquired by Trafford Council and Bruntwood Works as part of a £50million deal in October 2019.
Stutter & Twitch was launched in 2018 by former musician and producer Ryan Hayes.
Fuelled by a love of coffee and his experiences working in hospitality through various part-time jobs, Hayes bought the caravan on New Year’s Day 2019 and set about a lengthy restoration project before opening last spring.
He said: “Stutter & Twitch is all about creating a place to play and trade great music, serve fantastic coffee and share it with the local community. The Stamford Quarter has been a wonderful home for us – we’ve made so many new friends, and we’ve loved lifting spirits.
“We can’t wait to extend what we offer and introduce more amazing drinks, events and grooves to the neighbourhood – it’s going to be a wonderful offering that enhances Stamford Square. It’s tough out there right now, and we can’t wait for that time to come when we can share drinks with friends and enjoy great music together.”
