Hale seeks three new shops or leisure businesses after renovation of former RBS Bank

The bank closed its Ashley Road branch back in November 2018.

Hale is looking to welcome three new shops or leisure businesses to the village following the renovation of the former Royal Bank of Scotland building.

The bank closed its Ashley Road branch back in November 2018 and was subsequently used as a temporary library while construction of the new Hale Library and Community Centre was completed.

The distinctive Arts and Crafts style building, which was originally built in the 1920s as a bank and two retail shops, has now been turned into three modern retail units with glass frontages.

The ground floor units have been restored as they were originally designed and are now available for tenants to take them on as retail or leisure units.

The work has been completed by Forward Property Group, who most recently worked on the redevelopment of the Crown Passages development in Hale.

The units have a total space of 1,742 sq ft, as well as 1,300 sq ft of basement space, and can be configured as either one, two or three units.

A spokesperson for Forward Property Group said: “We are delighted that we have been able to restore this long-standing building, ensuring that it remains at the heart of the community and village for many more years to come.

“Hale village is renowned for its independent boutiques and restaurants, and we hope to welcome some new additions with these great new units, offering excellent visibility and footfall.”

The 159 Ashley Road building also incorporates Spire to the first floor and 2/4 Victoria Road, which is occupied by Yogberries.
