McCarthy Stone has submitted revised plans for a retirement development on brownfield land off Moss Lane in Hale, reducing the number of proposed apartments from 64 to 47.
The UK's largest retirement community developer has scaled back its original proposals following a public consultation held in November 2023, with the scheme also changing from an Extra Care development for over-70s to a Retirement Living development for over-60s.
The revised plans include 47 apartments with a homeowners' lounge, landscaped gardens, on-site parking and lift access to all floors. The number of parking spaces has been increased from 30 to 33.
The 1.73-acre site, located opposite School Road and close to Altrincham Football Club, was formerly home to Sabre Instrument Valves, which made and distributed valves to the oil and gas industry.
David Major, Development Director for McCarthy Stone, said: "We are excited to share our plans for a new specialist retirement development in Hale.

"This proposed scheme aims to meet the growing demand for retirement accommodation in the area, offering greater housing choice for older residents. In turn, it will help ease pressure on the wider housing market by freeing up family homes for local families and first-time buyers."
The developer says Trafford Council's Local Plan highlights the need for diverse housing to cater for an ageing population.
Independent research suggests that each McCarthy Stone apartment sold generates at least two moves further down the housing chain, meaning the 47-home development could free up at least 94 homes for local people.
McCarthy Stone says most residents typically move from within a five-mile radius, often leaving larger family homes that are no longer suitable for their needs.
The plans will be determined by Trafford Council in the coming months. Further information is available at mccarthystoneconsultation.co.uk/hale or by calling 0800 298 7040.
