"This podcast provides a way of offering a little bit of reassurance, support and importantly, hope, wherever you are."

Two mums who lost their sons when they were just teenagers have launched a podcast to provide support to other bereaved parents.

Tracy Edwards, from Altrincham, has teamed up with Debbie Enever, from Sheffield, to launch the Bereaved Parents’ Club podcast.

They say it will be a space for bereaved parents to talk about their children and explore themes relevant to them.

Tracy's 18-year-old son George died in 2021 after a cardiac arrest, while Debbie's son, Dan Robinson, died aged 15 in 2018 after he was killed by a speeding driver in Sheffield.

Debbie said: "You can feel really isolated as a bereaved parent and this podcast provides a way of offering a little bit of reassurance, support and importantly, hope, wherever you are."

Each episode features a different guest, mostly bereaved parents themselves. The first series includes Michelle Meredith from the Child Death Helpline discussing being newly bereaved and finding ways to cope.

It also features a dad who lost his son to suicide and found enormous solace in the support of both a local mental health charity and his local football team.

Tracy added that the podcast will also explore "dealing with multiple loss, organ donation, and much more".

The entire first series is available now on Spotify, Apple and other platforms, as well as on the Bereaved Parents’ Club website.

The podcast was launched on May 27th, the six-year anniversary of Debbie's son Dan's death.

"It feels like a tribute to him, in some way," she said. "I’ve come a long way on my grief journey over these six years and I’d like to think that Dan would be very proud of what we’ve achieved with this podcast. He loved to help others and I hope that’s what the podcast will do."

Debbie and Tracy are already planning the recording of series two, and you can contact them with your thoughts and ideas on hello@bereavedparentsclub.org.uk
