Altrincham Storytelling Festival set to showcase town's creative talent

It's been curated and produced by Tamara Forrest-Smith.

A new festival celebrating storytelling, performance and the arts is coming to Altrincham next month, with organisers promising an intimate programme spanning theatre, visual art and live creative experiences across two days.

The Altrincham Storytelling Festival, announced by the Alan Forrest-Smith Literary Foundation, will take place on June 20-21 at OYEZ Arts at Altrincham Town Hall.

Curated and produced by Tamara Forrest-Smith, the event has been created to spotlight the creative talent already thriving in and around Altrincham.

The programme includes live theatre and performance, artist talks, panel discussions, workshops, children's storytelling, illustration, books and new writing – with an emphasis on direct engagement between audiences and the creatives behind the work.

Tamara Forrest-Smith said: "Altrincham is full of creative talent. This festival is about revealing that creativity – creating an intimate space where audiences can connect more closely with the work and the people behind it."

The festival will be hosted at OYEZ Arts, with many events limited in capacity. Organisers are urging early booking to avoid disappointment.

Alan Forrest-Smith, a filmmaker and storyteller who lived in Altrincham, died in 2024.
