Final business suites unveiled as Trafalgar House completes £3million transformation

It’s the culmination of a multi-million-pound investment by local family business Selbourne Group.

Trafalgar House, a 1970s office building located just off Manchester Road in Altrincham, has completed the final phase of its four-year, £3million transformation.

The second floor, now home to eight high-quality, self-contained business suites, is ready to welcome a new wave of tenants.

It’s the culmination of a multi-million-pound investment by local family business Selbourne Group, which has seen the entire 34,000 sq ft building modernised, offering high-spec office space for businesses of all sizes.

The once-traditional office building, originally built in the 1970s, is now home to start-ups and established companies alike, and offers a blend of affordability, convenience and premium amenities.

Michael de Massey, Managing Director of Selbourne Group, says the new suites have been designed with the modern business in mind, offering a mix of small and large office spaces to suit a variety of needs.

"This phase marks the completion of four years of major renovation at Trafalgar House," said de Massey.

The larger Trafalgar House offices can accommodate up to 80 people

"We have transformed a traditional large office space into eight high-quality, self-contained offices of varying sizes, from small suites for two to four people to larger offices that can accommodate up to 80 people."

The new suites come with high-speed internet (30Mbps guaranteed bandwidth), state-of-the-art heating and cooling systems, acoustic insulation, quartz window sills and energy-efficient LED lighting.

The design has also placed a strong emphasis on practicality, with each unit featuring a newly fitted kitchen and allocated parking spaces – a rarity for office spaces near the town centre.

Selbourne Group has tailored the second-floor space to appeal to a broad range of businesses, particularly those transitioning from home working or seeking a cost-effective alternative to city-centre office spaces.

"We've focused on creating two- to four-person offices, which are perfect for small businesses or those looking to move from remote working," de Massey explained.

The flexibility extends to lease terms, with businesses able to take on a short-term lease of just three months before committing to a longer arrangement.

Tenants at Trafalgar House - who currently include the likes of Dental Scan, Cheshire Yoga and Flawless Aesthetics Cheshire - also benefit from a range of on-site amenities.

“We are very proud of the community we have built - our health and wellbeing tenants have worked together to promote their complementary businesses with our help.”

Among the key facilities are:

  • A stylish café serving barista-made coffee from Kickback Coffee, cakes and paninis
  • Two high-spec conference rooms available for hourly hire
  • Breakout areas for informal meetings and networking
  • Showers, heated lockers and secure bike storage
  • On-site health and wellbeing businesses, including a yoga studio, pilates classes and beauty treatments
Managing Director Michael de Massey said Trafalgar House was "probably 30% cheaper than town centre office spaces"

Located just a mile from Altrincham town centre and only a short walk from Navigation Road Metrolink stop, Trafalgar House offers easy access to major transport links without the higher rental costs of central Altrincham.

"We're probably 30% cheaper than town centre office spaces, yet we offer many of the same benefits, including excellent amenities, high-spec finishes and great connectivity," said de Massey.

Selbourne Group, established by Robert de Massey in 1998, has deep roots in the Altrincham community.

Following Robert’s untimely passing, his son Michael took over the business, continuing the family’s commitment to local development.

“We’re very much a family business,” Michael said. “We try to use local suppliers wherever possible and position ourselves as part of the community.”

The offices also feature state-of-the-art heating and cooling systems and acoustic insulation

The refurbishment of Trafalgar House is the culmination of Selbourne Group’s broader upgrade of its Altrincham properties, which include Mansion House, The Arches in Broadheath and the Kids Planet nursery.

“We’ve put a lot of effort into making Trafalgar House a high-quality, flexible space that can attract a wide range of businesses,” de Massey said.
