Moss Lane Bridge set for 24-hour Everest challenge in aid of Trafford Carers

It all takes place this Friday.

An Altrincham running club is preparing to tackle a gruelling 24-hour endurance challenge in aid of Trafford Carers Centre and in memory of a much-loved local resident.

Starting at 6pm on Friday, June 5th, runners will spend 24 hours repeatedly running up and down Moss Lane Bridge, near Tesco in Altrincham, with the aim of covering the equivalent elevation of climbing Mount Everest.

The ambitious challenge has been organised to raise funds for Trafford Carers Centre while honouring the memory of Jim Edward Parsons, who passed away in December.

The charity holds a special place in the hearts of members of the running club, particularly through its connection with the Batch Bottlestore family.

A few years ago, the club chose to support Trafford Carers after witnessing the vital support the organisation provided to Kirsty Parsons while she cared full-time for her husband, Jim.

Chris Bardsley, owner of Batch Bottlestore and a member of the running club, saw first-hand the difference Trafford Carers made during an incredibly difficult period for his family.

Following Jim's passing late last year, club members wanted to organise a challenge that would both celebrate his memory and continue supporting a cause that meant so much to him and his family.

The challenge takes place this Friday

For 24 hours, participants will take on what locals affectionately call "Tesco Hill", completing as many laps as possible in pursuit of their Everest-equivalent target. Organisers are hopeful they may even surpass the height of the world's tallest mountain before the challenge comes to an end.

The club is encouraging members of the community to get involved, whether by joining the run for a lap or two, taking on a longer stint, volunteering along the route, or simply cheering participants on.

Organisers say every donation, no matter the amount, will help Trafford Carers Centre continue providing essential support to unpaid carers across the Trafford area.

Anyone wishing to support the challenge can donate via the organisers' fundraising page.
