Altrincham FC manager Lee Sinnott will be giving us the inside track on the Robins’ return to the Conference. Here’s his latest column for Altrincham Today.

I’m smiling as I say that because for 35 minutes at Kidderminster on Tuesday night, we stood up really well and looked the better team and created the better chances, yet we have then conceded a couple of goals in three minutes before half-time, had a man sent off early in the second half and eventually come away on the wrong end of a 4-0 scoreline in a very strange game.
It’s a bit baffling, because partly I’m annoyed with them, but partly I’m proud of the way that they performed, even though I felt that we were to some degree the architects of our own downfall.
As we did at Nuneaton a couple of weeks ago, we started well at Aggborough, but we need a better efficiency in the final third, particularly away from home. I was a bit annoyed with the way we conceded two goals in quick succession just before half-time and having made plans, during the interval, to try to get back into the game, we then lost Simon Richman, who was sent off for a second bookable offence.

I thought the referee got those two decisions right and Simon needs to show a bit more nous than he did – he should have stayed on his feet, rather than diving in.
Despite this further setback, we continued to create chances. Kyle Perry went very close and within a minute, we have conceded a third and the contest is over.
Whilst I thought that the referee got the two decisions that led to Simon Richman being sent off right, I have to be very diplomatic about how I word what I say about his performance. Kyle Perry seemed to be taken from behind in the first 15 minutes and Jake Moult incurred a very hefty and high challenge, yet no action was taken in either instance.
It may sound stupid when you have just been beaten 4-0, but I still believe that we are making positive steps in this league and whilst our next game is another very tough one at Barnet, who are top of the league, we will go there and play our football and hopefully give our travelling fans something to cheer about.
They were great again on Tuesday, almost a hundred made the journey to Worcestershire and they gave the team great support… thanks for that.
