Altrincham FC manager Lee Sinnott gives us the inside track on the Robins’ progress this season in the Vanarama National League. Here’s his latest column for Altrincham Today.
This week we have played two games that have finished with the same scoreline but left me feeling with very different levels of satisfaction.
We can only point the finger at ourselves for not winning at Welling last Saturday. We looked very comfortable throughout the game, managed to get a lead around the hour mark through a Michael Rankine goal, but then missed further chances to finish the Kent side off, as we lacked a cutting edge at times.

Welling equalised in the 90th minute out of the blue, but that’s what can happen when you just have a single goal advantage.We were all very frustrated travelling back on the long trek back, because we all knew that we should have taken all three points, rather than just the one.
Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Wrexham at the J Davidson Stadium was a different kettle of fish. I was pleased with the overall effort and endeavour and we started the game particularly well with Simon Richman hitting the bar with a great effort before Josh Ginnelly scored in the 12th minute. Josh went very close to putting us two goals ahead before Wrexham equalised, a bit out of the blue, after half an hour.
In the second half, the Welsh side had the better chances and probably would have won the game, but for two great goalline clearances from Scott Leather. The pitch was difficult and it was far from a classic, but both sides kept on trying to win the game until the end, but overall a point apiece was a fair outcome and that means that we are now unbeaten in the last three games.
We now have a very important eight days, with three home games, starting today against Lincoln City, who like Wrexham are on the fringes of the fight to get into the play-offs in May.
Chester visit us in midweek (Tuesday) and then it’s Guiseley next Saturday, so there are nine points to play for and with our home form being generally quite good, we should look on these three games as real opportunities to get ourselves well on the way to the 40-point mark.
