Here are the latest coronavirus rates in the Altrincham area as Trafford claims the unwanted title of the highest rate in the country.
The latest figures from Public Health England show that – for the seven days to October 6th – there were 1,863 positive tests in the borough, a rate of 784.2 per 100,000 people.
Within Trafford, Altrincham East – which includes a patch stretching from Sinderland Road in Broadheath to the area around Tesco Extra in Altrincham town centre – has the second highest number of new cases, up 114 cases, or 147.8%, in the seven days to October 6th. Only Davyhulme, with 115 new cases, has more within the borough.
Cases are also rising rapidly in Broadheath and Hale Barns, with new cases up 118.4% and 141.9% in the period.
The second worst rate in the Altrincham area is actually Timperley North – an area covering Riddings Road and many of its connected streets – at 1083 per 100,000 people.

The rapid increase in Trafford has been attributed largely to the number of cases among schoolchildren, who remain largely unvaccinated.
On Friday, Trafford Council issued new guidance in a bid to reverse the trend, including advising secondary school pupils, secondary school staff and primary school staff to wear face coverings when moving around school.
And parents dropping off and picking up children are now also being asked to wear face coverings.
Thankfully, the deaths and hospitalisation rates are remaining low, with a total of 138 patients currently in Manchester University NHS Trust hospitals with Covid-19, and 17 deaths within Trafford in the 28 days.
