The Mayor Of Trafford, Cllr John Holden, joined a party in Altrincham last week to celebrate the relaunch of the Trafford Blind and Deaf Club.
The event was held at the Hub on Pownall Road, with members and guests enjoying an evening of games, music and food.
The club has enjoyed a strong 12 months since almost closing due to falling numbers in 2013.
Last year, the organizing committee secured a Thrive Equality Grant which helped kick-start the new recruitment of volunteers and members.
Chairwoman Doreen Webster said: “It has been a great year, tough at times, but we were delighted to welcome the Mayor to our relaunch and would like to thank him for his support.
“The club is back on a sound footing and we are still very much on the lookout for new members and volunteers.
“Our aim remains the same as it was when we started 31 years ago and that is to provide a weekly meeting place for adults living in and around Trafford who are blind, partially sighted, deaf or hearing impaired.
“Through this group, members make new friends, enjoy social contact, participate in games, music and outings, learn from visiting speakers and benefit from peer support.”
