A group of travellers who have set up camp at the historic Linotype Works building in Broadheath have been ordered to leave by 3pm on Wednesday.
The group was this afternoon served a 24-hour eviction order by a court at Trafford Courthouse under the Civil Procedure Rules 1998.
An application had been made to the court by Morris Homes, the landowner.
The convoy of around 17 vehicles arrived last Wednesday at around 6pm, but the eviction procedure has been delayed by the four-day Easter weekend.
One local resident told Altrincham Today she was highly frustrated by the delay and had been promised that the travellers would be evicted by today at the latest.
Residents in neighbouring houses have grown increasingly tired of the group’s actions, which have included threatening behaviour, outdoor defecation, roaming dogs and litter.
At this stage the council cannot get involved as the historic site – part of which is currently being demolished ahead of conversion into residential accommodation – is privately owned.
