The 13-year-old boy who fell seriously ill at Timperley Metrolink after taking a drug thought to be ecstasy has been taken off on a life support machine and is out of intensive care.
Police report the Sale boy’s condition has improved so much that he is communicating with hospital staff and his family, who kept a bedside vigil.
Emergency services were called to Timperley Metrolink station three weeks ago when the boy became ill after getting off a tram. His condition deteriorated and he was placed on a life support machine. He remained gravely ill and fighting for his life.
Two boys, aged 15 and 16, have been arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs and released on bail.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “He’s out of intensive care. He has regained consciousness and is breathing by himself.”
