One of Altrincham's best-known independent jewellers has closed its doors after 16 years on the high street.
Randalls Jewellers, on Regent Road, has served the town since 2010, originally on George Street before moving to its current location in late 2023.
While the business has made no public announcement, we understand it has now shut for good, having recently held its first ever clearance sale.
The closure has prompted a number of tributes to owner Martin Duff, recognising his contribution to the town's regeneration over the past decade and a half.
Duff has been one of the central figures in the town's transformation - from his early involvement with Altrincham Forward to becoming the driving force behind the creation of Altrincham BID, the organisation behind Visit Altrincham.
He served on the Altrincham BID Board from the very start, first as Chair, then Vice Chair, and most recently as a Board member.
In a statement, Altrincham BID said: "Today we say a heartfelt thank you to Martin Duff as Randalls Jewellers closes its doors after serving Altrincham since 2010.
"While Randalls has been a much-loved independent business on our high street, Martin's contribution to Altrincham extends far beyond his shop. He has been one of the key figures in the town's remarkable regeneration over the past decade and a half.
"From his early involvement with Altrincham Forward to being the driving force behind the creation of Altrincham BID - the organisation behind Visit Altrincham - Martin has dedicated countless hours as a volunteer, championing our town and its business community.
"He has served on the Altrincham BID Board from its very beginning, first as Chair, then Vice Chair, and most recently as a valued and respected Board member, always bringing passion, energy and an unwavering belief in Altrincham's future. His leadership, commitment and generosity have helped shape the thriving town centre we know today.

"On behalf of everyone at Altrincham BID and Visit Altrincham, thank you, Martin, for everything you have done for our town. Both Martin and Kiki will be greatly missed, and we wish you both every happiness and success in whatever comes next."
Ewen Miller, who succeeded Duff as Altrincham BID chair, paid his own tribute: "I've been honoured to work with Martin for a number of years whilst chairing the BID. He is an amazing man and the Altrincham high street will feel empty without him and the team at Randalls."
The closure also marks the departure of Kiki Grandage, who worked alongside Martin at the shop.
Helen Sweeney-Todd was among those to share their sadness: "So sad to hear this. Martin and Kiki you are both wonderful people and the Altrincham community won't be the same without your dazzling smiles and wonderful hospitality. Best of luck on your next adventures!"
