A teenage girl has been taken to hospital with “significant head injuries” after a collision with a vehicle in Altrincham town centre this afternoon.
The North West Ambulance Service has confirmed they were called to the scene of the incident on Oakfield Road, close to Altrincham Leisure Centre, at 2.49pm this afternoon.
There was a significant emergency response, including an air ambulance, and the road was closed in both directions.
The air ambulance has now left the scene and the injured girl has been transported by road to be treated for “major trauma” at Manchester Children’s Hospital.
A statement was also released by Greater Manchester Police.
It read: “Officers were called at around 3pm today to Oakfield Road in Altrincham to a report of a road traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
“The emergency services are in attendance and enquiries are ongoing.”
