Police are this afternoon responding to a serious incident at a property in Timperley.
Numerous police and other emergency vehicles responded to reports of the disturbance, which happened at a semi-detached property on Riddings Road at around 2.30pm this afternoon.
The section of the road between Crofton Avenue and Swan Road remains cordoned off and there is a considerable police presence at the scene.
A man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of assault but a forensics tent has been erected at the scene.
Police say they believe it to be an “isolated” incident and there is no wider threat to the community.
A police statement read: “At approximately 2:30pm today (09/07/2023) officers were called to reports of a disturbance at a home in Timperley. A man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of assault and investigations are ongoing.
“We believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the community. A visible police presence will remain around the area for some time whilst officers conduct their enquiries.”
Local residents reported that numerous police vehicles had been seen racing to the scene shortly after 2.30pm.
