Two police officers were injured when their vehicle hit a wall and overturned after colliding with another car in Altrincham.
Greater Manchester Police said that the police vehicle was hit by another car at the junction of Dunham Road and Charcoal Road at 7.21pm yesterday evening.
Police said the car had simply been “negotiating” the junction, with no suggestion of a chase.
The other car - which pictures showed was a dark-coloured hatchback - contained four people.
Police said that “all parties involved reported minor injuries, including two police officers”, adding that one passenger had been taken to hospital as a precaution.
In accordance with normal procedure, police have referred themselves to the Professional Standards Directorate and the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
A statement from GMP said: “At around 7.21pm on Sunday 28 April 2024, whilst negotiating a junction on Dunham Road, a police vehicle was hit by another vehicle driven by a member of public, with four passengers inside that vehicle.
“Due to the collision the police vehicle collided with a wall and overturned. Both vehicles were recovered from the scene due to damage caused.
“All parties involved reported minor injuries, including two police officers. One passenger was taken to hospital as a precaution.
“In-line with normal procedure, referrals have been made to our Professional Standards Directorate and the Independent Office for Police Conduct.”
