A man charged with the murder of a much-loved headteacher who died in a collision in Altrincham has appeared in court.
Simon Richardson, 34, of no fixed address, appeared before Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court via video link from HMP Forest Bank on Monday morning.
He is charged with murder, manslaughter, dangerous driving, failing to stop and driving without insurance following the fatal collision on 20 April.
Emergency services rushed to the scene in Altrincham and several roads were closed after the crash, in which a cyclist died.
The cyclist was named as Michael Mullins, 56, from Weaverham, who was cycling home from Stretford Grammar School, where he was headteacher. He was struck by a black Volvo XC90 on Paddock Lane at around 6.10pm.

It was reported that the car that hit Mr Mullins failed to stop at the scene. Three men and a woman were later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Richardson, who has been held on remand at HMP Forest Bank, has not yet entered a plea.
During the short hearing, the case was adjourned until 29 July, when he is expected to enter his pleas. A provisional trial date has been set for 12 October.
Mr Mullins's family previously paid tribute to the "loving dad, husband, brother-in-law, 'Diddy', uncle and son-in-law".
In a statement, they said: "He was devoted to his family, and our lives will never be the same.
"A gap has been left in our hearts, and within his role as a headteacher of Stretford Grammar School.
"Our dad gave us fantastic memories growing up, including a trip getting lost at night around Washington DC, but it was in his role as a granddad where he truly excelled.
"Our love and memories of Michael will know no limits. We will love him forever, to Saturn and beyond."
