A major new residential development in Altrincham town centre has been rebranded The Address.

Located on the site of the former Regent Road Car Park, the luxury development – comprising 36 one and two-bedroom apartments – was originally called Chapel Square as a nod to its heritage as the site of Chapel Street, the “bravest street in England”.

But we understand that the Post Office would not agree to the intended name given its proximity to Chapel Court next door.

Chapel Street will still however be retained as the name of the main pedestrianised route into the scheme, and will also be fully landscaped in recognition of its history.

Developer Citybranch, the local developer that’s also behind the Altrincham Health and Wellbeing Centre, Hale Barns Square redevelopment and Timperley Library rebuild, started work on site in October 2019.

The whole scheme is on track to be finished by Spring 2022, with the adjoining new four-storey car park ready by this Christmas.

Each apartment will feature bespoke kitchenware, quartz worktops, Hans Grohe showers and baths and designer-engineered wooden flooring.

The site will also include five commercial units, secure cycle storage and electric vehicle charge points.
