A new bakery will be opening its doors in Altrincham town centre this Saturday.

MOST bakery is opening in the Cross Street unit formerly occupied by Warrens Bakery, which didn’t reopen closing for lockdown in 2020.

It’s the brainchild of teacher-turned-baker Matt Townley, who has previously been running the Hale franchise of bread delivery service and baking school One Mile Bakery.

Townley says that MOST – an acronym of his initials combined with those of his wife Suze and daughter Olivia – is a natural extension of his bread delivery service, which boomed during lockdown.

“I was baking all day, most days, but still couldn’t meet demand due to limited capacity, so it became clear we needed to expand!” he said.

MOST will be producing eight different types of slow-fermented bread, classic and savoury croissants, pain au chocolats, cruffins, a selection of cakes and tarts, cookies, brownies and whole host of choux pastries.

It will be marking its opening this Saturday by giving away 100 free brownies, free gingerbreads for the kids and £1 cupcakes.

There will also be drinks from Kickback Coffee, wines from Reserve Wines, cheeses, butters, smoked salmon and kimchi from local suppliers.

MOST is also set to launch a new series of bread-making classes for adults and children in the next few months.

“There’s often a local bakery at the heart of every town and we want to create a warm and friendly community hub for the people of Altrincham, while serving amazing freshly baked bread, pastries and other treats,” added Townley.

MOST will be open from 8am to 4pm, Tuesday to Friday, and 9am to 5pm on Saturdays.
