Classic sitcom The Good Life comes to the Garrick

It opens on Monday and runs through to Sunday 7th June.

Classic BBC sitcom The Good Life is heading to the stage at Altrincham Garrick Playhouse next week, with performances running from Monday 1st June to Sunday 7th June.

The stage adaptation, written by Jeremy Sams and based on the original television series by John Esmonde and Bob Larbey, follows Tom and Barbara Good as they ditch suburban life to become self-sufficient - converting their Surbiton home into a smallholding with vegetables, livestock and homemade electricity, much to the horror of their neighbours, the status-conscious Margo and Jerry Leadbetter.

Artistic Director Joe Meighan said the production's themes felt as relevant now as when the show first aired.

"It's funny, warm and wonderfully eccentric, and we're delighted to bring these iconic characters to the Garrick stage," he said.

The show forms part of the theatre's 2025/26 season. The Garrick, which has been a fixture of Altrincham's cultural life since 1914, is widely regarded as one of the North West's leading community theatres.

Tickets are priced from £13 to £18 and are available via the box office on 0161 928 1677 or at altrinchamgarrick.co.uk.
