The new Timperley Library is to be officially opened next week.
The Stockport Road facility forms part of a £7m redevelopment of the site, which also now includes a medical centre and residential apartments.
The first-floor library was originally given the green light by Trafford Council in 2016, with work finally getting underway in 2018.
Main contractor Whitfield & Brown has partnered with Laurus Homes and Assura on the mixed-use development.
The official opening, at 10am on Tuesday 22nd March, will involved representatives from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, children from Broomwood Primary School and the Mayor of Trafford, Cllr Laurence Walsh.
Cllr Walsh said: “I’m very excited about the new library. It’s a wonderful new facility and will the perfect place to relax and discover the latest exciting stories.
“We often forget just how amazing libraries are. I often go to libraries, get myself lost in a book and end up forgetting what time it is! Anyone can join and gain access to the most fantastic books. There’s ebooks and audio books available too. And it’s all free.”
Computer facilities, including printing and photocopying, are also available at the library, on Stockport Road.
Cllr Walsh added: “This will be a wonderful community facility for the people of Timperley and I am delighted to have been asked to open it.”
Timperley Library is open from 10am to 5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays, 10am to 7pm on Thursdays and 10am-4pm on Saturdays. It is closed on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Park Medical Centre opened on the ground floor of the new development last October.
