Steph Smith, who manages the Hale, Altrincham and Sale area for Mums in the Know, chooses five great things to do with the kids over the next week.
1. Get ready for the SpookyWoo Spectacular (Friday 31st October)
Don’t miss Altrincham’s spookiest event yet – lots of local businesses have joined forces to create Altrincham’s spookiest event yet! Head along to the Stamford Quarter where an empty retail unit (next to Rackhams) will be converted into a ‘graveyard’ for this Halloween spectacular. Admission is just 50p.
There will be a range of entertainment, games, competitions and activities aimed at children, hot food at The Graveyard Grill (a.k.a. Oxford Road Cafe), magical potions/fresh fruit cocktails on tap at The Bubbling Cauldron (a.k.a. 24 The Downs), cakes & goodies from Fab Patisserie & Lulu Macaron and Trick or Treat sweeties from Candy Creations and Gummy Worm. Trafford Sound will be filling the ‘graveyard’ with haunting sounds and mystical music and we will be entertained by a variety of amateur and professional entertainers. Click here for more info.

2. Shake those Pantz at the spooky disco (Friday 31st October)
Join the play centre’s Halloween party with activities including a spooky disco, biscuit decorating, lucky dip boxes, spooky trail and a best dressed competition.
All children will also receive a trick or treat party bags. Make sure you book tickets in advance. Prices: over 3s £7.50; under 3s £6.50; under 1s £2.50.

3. An explosive Spooktacular at Altrincham Kersal (Saturday 1st November)
This year sees the first joint Fireworks and Halloween Spooktacular at Altrincham Kersal’s Rugby Club. Guaranteed to be twice the fun as usual with TWO fantastic fireworks displays.
A live four-piece band, The Villains, will be putting their rock twist on some classics and some current pop hits too. With the usual fun fair, BBQ and licensed bars, it’s sure to be a great night for all the family. Prices: adults 12 and over £8; under 12s and OAPs £5. For more info, call 0161 973 9157.

4. Feel the Fright Fest (October 31st to November 2nd)
Seek out spooky crows and creepy crawlies this Halloween on a self-guided trail around Crow Wood at Lyme Park. Get in touch with your inner goblin this Halloween and see if you’re brave enough. All ages welcome. Vehicle admission applies, NT members park free.

5. Get your skates on at MediaCity’s IceRink (until Christmas Eve)
Why not head along to MediaCityUK this week, where the outdoor Piazza has been transformed into a magical wonderland, complete with ice rink and a cosy tipi bar serving a wide-range of hot and cold festive drinks and food.
