1. Vintage Weekend at Altrincham Market
It’s totally vintage at Altrincham Market this weekend and, with an atmosphere that is guaranteed to be buzzing, what better place to spend Mothers’ Day weekend! The fantastic live music on the straw stage adds to the relaxed vibe and the food is always top notch.
There’s a new layout now with Tender Cow taking permanent residence in Market House. 2. Celebrate Mothers’ Day at Tatton Park
On Saturday, Tatton Park is holding a FREE event in association with Lindt where children can create their beautiful gift for their mum by decorating a pot of daffodils. Each pot comes with a gold bunny gift tag and a chocolate treat.
This activity will be running from 12 noon until 4pm and it’s essential to pre-book tickets by contacting Tatton Park on 01625 374456 or by sending your name, postcode and the number of children you will be bringing to the event to tattoneducation@cheshireeast.gov.uk. Normal park entry charges apply.
Whilst Tatton’s Mothering Sunday Afternoon Tea event is now sold out, the gardens are a stunning place to enjoy a family stroll on Sunday. It wasn’t until quite recently that my family ventured to the amazing award-winning gardens at Tatton – we had previously stuck to the Farm and the adventure playground – but aren’t we glad we did!
With over 50 acres to explore, the children loved the gardens as much as the grown ups and we now make sure we visit each time they have a particular event (usually a trail of some sort for the children to follow). If the weather is kind to us on Sunday, this is a little piece of paradise that you won’t be able to help but enjoy.
The gardens are free to visit for National Trust members. Otherwise, in addition to the £5 vehicle entry fee, tickets are £6 for adults and £4 for children aged 4-15. Call on 01625 374400.

3. Family Spin at Pro Spin Club in Ashley
Pro Spin Club is a specialist indoor cycling and spinning facility in Ashley, just down the road from Altrincham, featuring the latest Spin bikes and Wattbikes. Pro Spin offers a range of spin classes on a Pay As You Go basis, including a unique Family Spin session for parents and kids aged 12 and over who are at least 4’11 in height.
Spinning can be beneficial to anyone, including teenagers, looking to get fitter even if you regularly exercise or compete in sport. The family class takes into consideration the younger people participating and is less intense with longer more frequent breaks to allow ample recover time and allows adults who might be regular spinners at other gyms the chance to spin with their kids. Family Spin runs on Saturdays at 11am and Sundays at 11.30am. Why not give it a whirl this weekend!

4. Free Ticket for Mums at the Crocky Trail (Sunday March 15th)
If you fancy an adrenalin filled Mothers’ Day, The Crocky Trail (around a 30-minute drive from Altrincham) is a fantastic day out with the family. This Sunday, The Crocky Trail is running a special offer where mums go free when you pay for entry for one child. For the uninitiated, you can expect thrills and spills at this high octane, mile long, adventure trail and it’s bound to leave the whole family grinning from ear to ear. Slide, climb, splash and balance your way along the exciting and sometimes challenging trail and build precious memories with your kids.

5. Try a FREE Taster Class at Sound Beginnings
Trafford’s Sound Beginnings Club in Sale gives young children and their carers the opportunity to engage in high quality musical experiences. The 45-minute classes take place during term time on Tuesdays and Thursdays and are delivered by Jane who is an absolute star and has a genuinely lovely way with the children who adore her! Sessions are divided by age group – the Under 2’s group runs at 10am and it’s 11am for 2-4 year olds.
The children have the opportunity to sing songs, listen to music, play musical instruments and respond to music using physical movement. As well as lots of fun, the songs and rhymes support your little one’s emerging literacy skills such as speech, awareness of rhyme and memory skills.
