Trafford Council has announced a by-election for the Hale ward following the resignation of Councillor Owain Sutton.
Sutton, who was elected in 2023 and represents the Green Party, cited health challenges as the reason for his departure.
"I have faced a series of health problems, both physical and mental," he said. "This has made it harder to represent residents as well as they deserve, so it is appropriate to pass the responsibility on."
Green Party candidate Orla Weir has confirmed her candidacy for the by-election, which will take place on Thursday 20th November.
Sara Todd, Returning Officer for Trafford Council, urged residents to participate in the democratic process.
"Councils are responsible for a range of essential services and councillors represent their local communities when deciding how these services should be run," she said.
Voters must register by midnight on Tuesday 4th November, and will need to bring photo identification to polling stations.
The list of candidates will be available on the council's website from 5pm on Friday, 24 October.
Postal vote applications are due by 5pm on Wednesday 5th November, with proxy vote applications closing at 5pm on Wednesday 12th November.
The announcement comes just a few days after a by-election held in Broadheath following the death of Cllr Denise Western.
Dr. Kaushik Chakraborty won back the ward for the Conservatives with a decisive vistory, defeating Labour candidate Mahvish Masood by 1,614 votes to 978.
