Households across Altrincham have just days left to renew their garden waste subscription - or risk gaps in their collections.
Trafford Council is urging residents to sign up before May 15th to guarantee they receive their new lilac 2026/27 permit in time for the new subscription year, which begins on June 1st.
The current yellow 2025/26 permits will no longer be valid after May 31st, meaning any bin without a lilac sticker on display will be skipped by collection crews.
Residents who miss the May 15th cut-off can still subscribe after that date, but may face a gap in their garden waste collections in the meantime.
Cllr Stephen Adshead, Trafford Council's Executive Member for Highways, Environmental and Traded Services, said: "Spring has well and truly arrived so there’s going to be more garden waste that needs collecting. Our collection teams will only collect garden waste from bins with a valid permit on so please get your subscription in to avoid any gaps in the service.”
The council is also attaching reminder tags to bins across the borough.
How much does it cost?
The annual subscription price is unchanged from last year: £45 online or £50 by phone. The council has kept the online rate lower to reduce administration costs and encourage digital sign-ups.
