25 years behind bars for gang who flooded Altrincham and Timperley with drugs

They were sentenced at Mishull Street Crown Court.

Four members of an organised crime group that flooded Altrincham, Sale and Timperley with cocaine and cannabis have been jailed for a combined 25 years.

The gang was sentenced at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on Friday following a year-long investigation by Greater Manchester Police's Trafford Challenger unit.

Detectives valued the operation at around £733,000 - approximately £462,000 in cannabis and £271,000 in cocaine - supplied across the south Trafford area between August 2024 and July 2025.

Germane Tarrant, 33, of Salford, was handed the longest sentence - nine years and 10 months - for conspiracy to supply class A and class B drugs. Calvin Cousins, 48, of Altcar Grove, Stockport, was jailed for seven years for the same offences.

Nicholas Griffin, 39, of Clifford Avenue, was convicted of conspiracy to supply class A and class B drugs after a two-week trial in January and sentenced to six years and six months.

Letitia Sandys, 40, of Salford, received two years and three months for participating in the activities of an organised crime group. The court heard she provided a veneer of legitimacy to the operation, collected drugs from co-conspirators, helped with anti-surveillance measures and disposed of drugs and paraphernalia.

Tarrant, Cousins and Sandys pleaded guilty in January, at what would have been the start of a five-week trial.

The investigation began in August 2024 when Cousins was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply. He and Tarrant were soon identified as the principal figures in the operation.

Phone analysis and surveillance allowed officers to map the group's movements and link a network of phone numbers to the supply of drugs across Trafford.

In April 2025, Cousins was arrested a second time - caught with a rucksack full of cocaine and cannabis - and remanded into custody.

The investigation culminated on 3 July 2025, when officers executed a series of warrants at the gang members' addresses, recovering cocaine and cannabis worth more than £25,000, along with drug paraphernalia and several mobile phones. Tarrant and Griffin were remanded into custody following the raids.

Detective Sergeant Samuel Barr of the Trafford Challenger team said the presence of organised crime groups "undermines public safety and trust", and that the force is committed to dismantling them to protect communities.

"I hope today sends a clear message that we will not tolerate organised crime and the exploitation of vulnerable people," he said.

He urged anyone with concerns about criminal activity in their area to come forward: reports can be made to police on 101 or via the LiveChat function on the GMP website, or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
